I Hand crafted this large beautiful repoussé copper artwork of “Lady Hazel Lavery” framed in a hand-painted copper effect frame.
This is a traditional Celtic-crafted copper, representing a continuation of a long tradition of Celtic arts, which began with my ancient forefathers, “The Ancient Celts”, crafted with Celtic magic in an ancient, honoured tradition.
“Lady Hazel Lavery” after the Anglo-Irish treaty, the Irish Free State government invited Lavery to create an image of a female personification of Ireland for the new Irish banknotes. Such a personification harks back to figures in ancient Irish mythology This personification of Ireland is modelled on Lady Lavery. painted by her husband. The image was reproduced on banknotes of Ireland from 1928 until the 1970s. It then appeared as a watermark on Series B & C Irish banknotes, until the banknotes later were replaced by the euro’s notes in 2002.
The copper wall art is so beautiful in its simplicity. Handcrafted in pure copper, oxidized to bring out the aged copper patina colours, the effect is warm and understated and would complement any home decor style. This elegant copper art will bring you joy and is perfect for placing in a prominent position on the wall of a living room, entrance, or anywhere.
. I am trying to keep the art of copper repousse alive. Copper repousse is among the skills that are all but a lost, forgotten art.
Just as in nature, there will be flaws. I tend to be drawn to the ‘wear,’ finding it infinitely more beautiful and exciting than the flawless perfection of manufactured pieces.

These are individually handcrafted copper artworks, not to be confused with cheap, mass-produced manufactured items that are machine-made. Instead, they are handcrafted with Celtic magic by the traditional Irish artisan Tom Hughes’s studio in Bass Hill.
