I crafted this Beautiful traditional handcrafted repoussé copper of aged “CELTIC WARRIOR WITH HOUNDS” in a vintage handpainted Granite effect frame.

This is a traditional Celtic- handcrafted copper, representing a continuation of a long tradition of Celtic arts, which began with my ancient forefathers, “The Ancient Celts”, crafted with Celtic magic in an ancient, honoured tradition.

.There are many tales about the Celts. This is one version.
Like most tribal scopes of ancient times, the basic framework of the Celtic society was composed of extended families and clans who were based within their particular territorial confines. These collective groups were ruled by kings or high chieftains, with power being sometimes shared by dual authorities. Over time, by circa 1st century BC, some of the Celts were ruled by elected ‘magistrates’ though these figureheads only wielded nominal power. The actual decision-making was left to the assembly of free men, while the military orders like raiding and conquests were still put forth by an even smaller group of nobles, among whom the kings and chieftains were chosen.
This brings us to the basic hierarchy of the ancient Celts, where the nobles formed the minority of elites. They were followed by the aforementioned freemen of the society, who often created the warbands and retainers of their chiefs. In the Celtic world, as elsewhere, canines were admired for their senses of sight, smell, and hearing. Dogs were used on hunting expeditions, to guard homes, as domestic pets, and as a food source. They abound in surviving mythology and folk tradition and are well represented in religion, where they are often associated with divination, omens of death, and the Underworld. In addition, dogs were frequently portrayed as the attribute of a particular god or goddess. Hence, likenesses of the hammer-god Dispater appear with a small dog totem, as does the horse-goddess Epona. Finally, literary evidence confirms, or at least strongly suggests, that the ancient Celts trained dogs to guard tribal chiefs & families.

The copper wall art is so beautiful in its simplicity. Handcrafted in pure copper, oxidised to bring out the aged copper patina colours, the effect is warm and understated and would complement any home decor style. This elegant copper art will bring you joy and is perfect for placing in a prominent position on the wall of a living room, entrance, or anywhere.
. I am trying to keep the art of copper repousse alive. Copper repousse is among the skills that are all but a lost, forgotten art.

Just as in nature, there will be flaws. However, I tend to be drawn to the ‘wear,’ finding it infinitely more beautiful and exciting than the flawless perfection of manufactured pieces.

The copper art is 310 mm; the Diameter Frame size is 440 Diameter.

This copper art is crafted to order; The copper artwork can be crafted in different sizes if the client desires.

These are individually handcrafted copper artworks, not to be confused with cheap, mass-produced manufactured items that are machine-made. Instead, they are handcrafted with Celtic magic by the traditional Irish artisan Tom Hughes’s studio in Bass Hill.
