This traditional handcrafted large, heavy repoussé copper with an antique look. “Celtic Dragon Guarding the Gates “In a vintage hand-painted granite frame.
This is a traditional Celtic-Handcrafted copper, representing a continuation of a long tradition of Celtic arts, which began with my ancient forefathers, “The Ancient Celts”, crafted with Celtic magic in an ancient, honoured tradition.
The Celtic Dragon
Almost all cultures have dragons in their mythology. The Celts were no exception to the rule.
In Celtic mythology, the dragon was believed to be of a world that was parallel to the physical world. It was thought, by the Druids, That Celtic dragons were also the mythical protector of the gates to heaven and the underworld keepers of the entrances to the afterlife.
Druid believed the dragon’s power affected the lay of the land. They thought the dragons’ path was essential to the flow of energy through the physical world. Areas where a dragon often passed, where dragon paths crossed, or where a dragon stopped to rest became more potent than the surrounding areas.
The Celtic people were extremely interested in dragons. As a result, some of their tales and legends are centred around them. Celts were known for their strength and courage, so it is easy to understand why they had such interest and affinity for this mighty creature.
The copper wall art is so beautiful in its simplicity. Handcrafted in pure copper, oxidised to bring out the aged copper patina colours, the effect is warm and understated and would complement any home decor style. This elegant copper art will bring you joy and is perfect for placing in a prominent position on the wall of a living room, entrance, or anywhere.
. I am trying to keep the art of copper repousse alive. Copper repousse is among the skills that are all but a lost, forgotten art.
Just as in nature, there will be flaws. However, I tend to be drawn to the ‘wear,’ finding it infinitely more beautiful and exciting than the flawless perfection of manufactured pieces

The copper art is 390mm x 540 mm; the Frame size is  490 mm x  650  mm. This copper art is a one-off repousse artwork

These are individually handcrafted copper artworks, not to be confused with cheap, mass-produced manufactured items that are machine-made. Instead, they are handcrafted with Celtic magic by the traditional Irish artisan Tom Hughes in his art studio in Bass Hill. Order unique copper artwork that will last forever.
